REVIT MEP TRAINING

Fundamentals training is required prior to any discipline specific training. The sequence of disciplines (Load Analysis, HVAC Systems, HVAC Piping, Plumbing, and Electrical) can be changed to suit your specific needs.  We recommend that you keep the HVAC Systems and HVAC Piping sequenced together for continuity.

Select each of the training discipline categories above (MEP Fundamentals, MEP Load Analysis, MEP HVAC Systems, MEP HVAC Piping, MEP Electrical, and MEP Plumbing) for a detailed outline of all the topics that will be covered during the training.  Each of the topics is preceeded by a checkbox. If you wish to customize the training to suite your specific needs, make a copy of the training outline for each discipline, check-off the topics that you want to cover and send it to us along with any notes regarding your needs. We will customize your training sessions to meet your specific needs.

TRAINING SITE LOCATION

We recommend that the initial training be provided at the customer site.  This provides the student(s) with a one-on-one relationship with the instructor.  We also offer follow-up web-based training and will provide you with scheduling options to cover your needs.

TRAINING DURATION

Duration of each course depends on the number of disciplines covered and the overall number of students to be trained as that number may be applied to the number of students that can be acommodated in the training facility. Duration may also be affected by any customization of the training schedule made by the customer.

Training for each discipline is designed to be provided in 4 hour or 8 hour sessions as follows:

Fundamentals8 hours8 hours

ColdStream Software provides the instructor, the instructor's workstation and datasets for training.

A training manual complete with the class exercises and illustrations is provided for each student that is in attendance for Revit MEP classes. The manual was developed by ColdStream Software specifically for Revit MEP training. Exercises are tailored to each discipline and teach the student to begin a new project, setup all aspects of the project, and perform all the discipline specific functions that are provided with the Revit MEP software. The cost for the manual will be included in our initial proposal on a per-student basis.  We prefer for each student who attends the class to have a manual.  Students will be given the opportunity to purchased additional manuals.  The current manual is approximately 468 pages.

You (the customer) may supplement our handout materials with Autodesk Official Training Courseware (AOTC) by purchasing as many copies as you deem necessary from the Autodesk Store.

You (the customer) must provide a suitable classroom, a workstation for each student that is required to have a hands-on experience with the software, and a projector that is capable of a minimum resolution of 1280 x 800. (NOTE: 1280 x 800 is the minimum resolution that can be used to work with Revit MEP).

The instructor's laptop can also output to DVI and/or HDMI based projectors or flat panel screens.  A number of my clients are transitioning from the older projectors to the new large size 1080P flat panel screens in their classrooms and conference rooms.  This provides an excellent video interface for training.

You (the customer) must have installed Revit MEP on all workstations to be used in the class using your authorization codes provided to you by Autodesk.

Should you decide to add some additional workstations to the class by going to the Autodesk website and downloading and installing Revit MEP on additional workstations, Revit will have to be run on those workstations in trial (evaluation) mode during the class (this mode "times out" after one month).  Note that class cannot be conducted with Revit running in Demo mode.

We always use the latest version of Revit MEP for training including any and all web updates and subscription add-ons.  You (the customer) will be expected to have all the latest web updates loaded and working on each student workstation at the beginning of training.  We require that you also have the Room Naming Utility loaded and working on each workstation.  The Room Naming Utility is a subscription add-on that you can download and install from the subscription website.

We offer custom advanced level training on-site or web-based and we also offer mentoring services for users that are interested in increasing their skill level once they have successfully completed one of our Fundamental and Essentials classes. Customers that have worked with the software and feel comfortable with the fundamentals of the software may substitute their work experience (or fundamentals training from another source) for the requirement to complete our Fundamentals and Essentials class.

Call us at 803-781-3967 regarding the duration of classes. We will be happy to talk with you regarding your exact needs and provide you with an estimate of time and costs based on those needs.

The Revit MEP Training Manuals are available for purchase. Call 1-803-781-3967 for details.
